Do you know what they charge for a ticket at the movies these days? A small pop corn? An ice filled two sip coke? It costs a mint and not a junior one at that. It’s so prohibitively expensive to have to subsidize Tom Cruise’s career that the Schnorrer has taken his gloves off and begun to fight back. This is his cinematic credo:
Not everyone can transform themselves into Iron Man. But, with access to buy tickets online or at a an automatic kiosk at the theater, everybody has the …

Remember that when you see the “word” suggested donation, that means pay what you what. Although they raised the “suggested” admission of the Met to $20, this doesn’t mean that you need to pay that price. Pay what you want. They accept “suggested” donations of $1.
I know someone who lives 2 blocks from the Museum of Natural History, and literally goes once a week, or whenever he is bored, waits in line, and pays his $1. Plus this is a great date move…….go to the museum 15 minutes before the date starts, buy the tickets, and she’s …

My husband and I live in a two-bedroom apartment. One of my friends, who is known as frugal, says that she “doesn’t believe in air-conditioning.” When a heat wave hit, she asked if she could sleep in our apartment, which has air-conditioning. I want to help, but shouldn’t she find a more practical solution? I don’t want a guest all summer. Pamela Your friend’s philosophy is intriguing. If we stopped believing in aging, do you think our crows’ feet might disappear? Take pity on your …

The last few years have brought about unparalleled technological changes. We have navigation system that can talk to you, hybrid cars (that sadly can’t talk to you) that are both fun to laugh at and drive, books that can be read on a two centimeter wide surface, and we have an interconnecting force that unifies all life in the internet (still not sure if it’s a fad or not, I’ll wait and see).
The internet has changed our lives, that’s not debatable (unless you’re a jerk). It’s helped us …

The Schnorrer has decided to share two great schnorring moments from the movies with our readers
First, there is the first mention of the word Schnorrer on film: Grouchao Marx in “Animal Crackers” singing his soon-to-be theme song “Hooray for Captain Spaulding!
The second is a wonderful drama that unfolds in the movie “Diner” between an schnorrer, a schnorrer sympathizer and the vulnerable schnorree.

My favorite thing to do in the summer is lounge around in luxury next to a beautiful pool. Sadly, joining a pool club or beach club is an enormous expense. Luckily, most cities have beautiful public pools that can act as your own personal 5-star swim club (my personal favorite at a New Yorker is in Central Park North). And, of course, it’s totally free! Grab your towel, a lock for your locker, and sunscreen and get ready to work on your gorgeous million dollar tan. You’ll look like you’ve …

For those of you looking for more interesting date activities, check out Figment. As they describe it “Figment is an explosion of creative energy. It’s a free, annual celebration of participatory art and culture where everything is possible. For one weekend each summer, it transforms Governors Island into a large-scale collaborative artwork… and then it’s gone.” Having gone last year, I can say this is one of the most fun summer events in NYC. Look out for the Sculpture Garden and the Mini Golf! Here is a map and full …
