Remember that when you see the “word” suggested donation, that means pay what you what.   Although they raised the “suggested” admission of the Met to $20, this doesn’t mean that you need to pay that price.  Pay what you want.   They accept “suggested” donations of $1.

The Schnorrer has decided to share two great schnorring moments from the movies with our readers

First, there is the first mention of the word Schnorrer on film: Grouchao Marx in “Animal Crackers” singing his soon-to-be theme song “Hooray for Captain Spaulding!

The second is a wonderful drama that unfolds in the movie “Diner” between an schnorrer, a schnorrer sympathizer and the vulnerable schnorree.

My favorite thing to do in the summer is lounge around in luxury next to a beautiful pool.  Sadly, joining a pool club or beach club is an enormous expense.  Luckily, most cities have beautiful public pools that can act as your own personal 5-star swim club (my personal favorite at a New Yorker is in Central Park North).  And, of course, it’s totally free!  Grab your towel, a lock for your locker, and sunscreen and get ready to work on your gorgeous million dollar tan.  You’ll look like you’ve …

River Flicks on the Hudson River is a great way to watch a free movie.  If you are brave enough to be in the summer heat today, watch one of the funniest movies of 2009, The Hangover.  Movies start at Dusk, usually around 8:30pm. Bring whatever you want to eat!
