The Receptionist is your BEST FRIEND

Everybody thinks that being on good terms with the boss is most important, but I beg to differ.  Where does this get you?  Nowhere……which is why you are reading this site rather than working.

The key is being best friends with the receptionist.  And here is why….she knows when food is ordered for the conference rooms.  She controls who gets to the leftovers before anyone else.  Anyone who works for a company knows how quickly the leftovers from a breakfast/lunch meeting is schnorred.  We become vultures awaiting the carcass of the catered treys.  Not even the lonely pickle survives the bloodshed.

If you are really good friends with the receptionist, you will find out a day in advance when those meetings are taking place so that you don’t even have to buy breakfast or lunch.  If you are best friends, she will stash food for you:)

this is unbelievably true…….it’s sick how fast leftovers are snatched up.

I have a friend who used to keep a candy dish on his desk specifically for the admins. They would always stroll by to graze from the bowl. While they were there he would engage them in conversation. Being the adroit schmoozer that he is, he would get all the dirt on everything going on in the dept./co.. He knew who was doing who on the sly, who was going to get axed, who was getting promoted and so on. And yes, he always got the heads up on the meeting leftovers.

I actually bring the floor receptionist her breakfast (she still pays for it) every day. I do this so that she will call me first when the food meetings are finished so that I can get the leftovers before anyone else.
